Izzy loves parties, but not pity parties.

If you want to feel sorry for someone, please don't feel sorry for her or our family.

This blog is for family and friends to keep up with Izzy and to document what a tough little girl she really is...

Don't worry - - she will kick cancers butt!

Hip, Hip Hooray!! No chemo this week

After 11 long weeks of Miss Sassy Pants having to go to the hospital for chemo we had our first week off and man did it feel good. We decided to celebrate and use the gift certificates Grandma Burnside gave to us for Christmas and go to the movie and lunch. Izzy has been dying to see Justin Bieber and the boys went to some other movie. We then had lunch at Applebee's and really just enjoyed the day.

This is Izzy and I waiting for the movie to start

This is Tommy and I at lunch

Last night after work I was trying to catch up on a few things online. I was writing back to someone who had left a really sweet comment on Izzy's blog and telling her about the things I've learned with this experience. I wanted to be able to share it with everyone because it is really close to my heart right now. Through this whole thing my Mom has continued to remind me of how important it is to learn from what we are all going through. I really believe that Heavenly Father gives a trials and experiences to teach us something. I have learned a lot and I know I will continue to keep growing from this, but this past week I've really focused on not complaining about what you don't have or feeling bad for yourself for what your dealing with in life. Sure it's not always easy, but who ever said life was easy is crazy! The thing is as sassy as Izzy is she doesn't feel sorry for herself. She has never once said it's not fair that she has to go to chemo each week or why does she have to stop going to dance or pre school and the other kids don't. And honestly not once has she told me that it isn't fair that she doesn't have any hair, in fact instead she has been putting these beautiful scarfs on her head or a long sleeve shirt to make her feel or pretend that she does. This incredible child of mine doesn't want anyone to feel sorry for her because she knows there is no reason to feel sorry for her. She is going to continue on with her life and make the most of what she is going through.

Much Love,

Jennie

  2. That made me think(scary I know ;)).... But I 'm sure that 's one reason she enjoys having kids over to play with her, because they just treat her like everyone else, and don't make her feel like she's any different. As with us adults we have a hard time not wearing our emotions on our sleeves. I think, she has more go than most kids not going through all she has.
Tell her Hi for us :).
If your ever up by Bountiful and are bored we'd love to have you over :).

  4. I just saw your write up on KSL.com. I knew exactly who she was when I saw the picture! I'm so glad someone could find a way to help you pay the bills. What a scary time, but you are doing so great in this huge trial. Keep Smiling! Glad you got to have a fun day out with your kids.

  5. Hi! I saw your KSL story too, and being a huge zumba fan, and a fellow cancer mom, I thought I would say hi. :) My 3.5 year old daughter, Elena, has ALL (Leukemia) and we are up at Primary's, too. We are 1 year into a 2.5 year battle, but things are going well. I think Izzy is absolutely darling. I am a strong believer that little ones who have to go through all this junk are blessed with extra spunk to carry them through. :) I can't believe all you guys are going through. You guys - especially Izzy are in our prayers.

Just when I think I know most of the cancer kids in Utah, I find out there's more. It's a number I wish I didn't have to add to. Hopefully we can meet you guys at clinic sometime!

  7. Hi! I saw your KSL story and had to visit your blog. You, Izzy and the rest of your family seem like some pretty amazing people. Izzy sounds strong and sassy but you as the mom must be just as strong as strong as sassy! She probably gets it from you!! So I hope this isn't weird but I read that your husband lost his job and I can only imagine how difficult things must be. I just had an impression that I needed to write and tell you that my husband is actually looking for some help and looking to hire some new people. He owns an office furniture business and is looking to hire an install manager and is also always looking for extra hands to help here and there. If you guys aren't interested I totally understand, I just wanted to let you know! If you are interested you can email my husband at joshw@interioralliance.com. He would love to hear from you!!!!

  8. Hi Jenny, this is Segi (Lesina's younger sister) not sure if you remember me but anyways...I've heard so much about your family's story and it really has touched my heart. Your family is pretty darn inspiring! Your daughter is gorgeous and has a great sense of style:) She is so strong and brave to continue to have the positive attitude that she has. When I grow up I hope to have her positive perspective:)Our prayers and thoughts are with you. God bless.

  9. Hi Abernethys! Just wanted to say "hi," and let you know that our love and thoughts are with you. Eli sure has a lot of concern for Izzy...Whenever he is watching me online reading your blog, or scrappin' some photos, he recognizes the PCMC background in the photos. He always spells, "Izzy at Primary." He seems quite concerned that Izzy is in the hospital, and ways wants to know when she is going home (he spells "Izzy home at?").

Tonight your family was on his mind, because he asked me (spelled) "Izzy's mom?" He likes to name people, so of course I told him "Jennie." Then he asked "Izzy's Dad?" I told him "Dustin," and Eli's response was "Have tattoos!" That cracked us up. We asked him who is Izzy's brother, and he used his words to say "Tommy." Your family is very special to us, and we love to cheer you on! Thanks for the smiles with all of your heart-melting photos and blog updates.
